Harford County Aegis “Ask A Doctor” – I just saw a commercial for the new Lyric hearing device. How does it compare to other hearing aids?

Q: I just saw a commercial for the new Lyric hearing device. How does it compare to other hearing aids?

A: Lyric is an “extended wear” hearing aid. Unlike traditional “daily wear” hearing aids, it’s placed deep inside the ear canal and stays there for up to four months. That means you can sleep with it, shower with it, and there are no batteries to change. The deep placement also makes it invisible (in most ears). You literally can’t see it, even if you look for it. Some have described it as a “contact lens for your ears.” I’ve had the opportunity to work with Lyric for over a year now, and I’ve been quite impressed with the device. It’s really shaken up the industry. It’s not for everyone, but for those people that it works for – they absolutely love it.
