Q: Why do my friends hear better with their hearing aids than I do?
A: Well, a hearing aid is only as helpful as the programming of it. Yes, the computer software for the hearing aid can generate a recommended fitting, but how do you know if that is actually the best setting for you? Hearing aid settings need to be based upon your daily individual needs for communication in various environments. Unless measurements based upon research are run in your ear to show a proper fitting, the hearing aid may not be doing much to help you at all. Surprisingly, only 30% of hearing healthcare providers actually do these measurements. If you would like to find out how your hearing aids are working in your ears, schedule an appointment with one of our audiologists who can show you just what your hearing aids are doing in your ears. Many times, we can work with your current devices to program them to better fit your listening needs. To find out, call our office at 410-569-5999.
