Q: It seems like I have to turn up the television more than I used to and I think I’m asking people to repeat themselves more often. Is there any way to know for sure if I have a hearing loss?
A: Yes. Get your hearing tested by an audiologist! (I promise – most of us don’t bite.) Some people feel like they need to wait until they’re totally frustrated, and their family’s yelling at them, before they see an audiologist. They think the time to be tested is when they’re ready for hearing aids. That’s not true. But the best time to see an audiologist is when you first start to think you might not be hearing as well as you used to. While many types of hearing losses are benign, there are some more serious conditions that first show up as difficulty hearing. Most major health insurances cover the cost of a hearing evaluation once a year. To schedule a hearing evaluation with our office, give us a call at 410-569-5999.
